    Hi, I’m Brandon and I’m a geek.

I live, work, and play in New York (and goddamn if I don’t think NY tech is where it’s at— the valley ain’t got nothing on us).

I founded nyhacker.org (the NYC hacker union) and, for a few lovely months, served as producer of the NY Tech Meetup. I’ve also built a startup or two myself: things like viral crush-sharing games to super robust self-service offer networks.

When I’m not writing code, I fancy myself something of an academic (though I’ve temporarily shelved my dreams of a PhD to try my hand at improving the world). There are days that I wish I were still back at Brown studying with Spike and twd, both wonderful teachers, advisors, and friends.

I don’t always write code, but when I do, I code in Python and Haskell (and when nobody is looking, C and Perl). I don’t really like Dos Equis, though.

I’ve got some fairly strong opinions that, more often than not, boil down to questions and not convictions— being wrong can be more fun and productive than being right. So please, if you see something you disagree with, chime in!

That’s about it. I hope you enjoy your stay (and I’m sure that your startup doesn’t suck too bad).
